About forestry

Uzda forestry was formed in Juli 1936.

By forest type, the Forestry Institution is located in the zone of mixed coniferous-broad leaved forests, subzone of hornbeam-oak spruce forests, in the area of Neman and Predpolesie and area of Berezino and Predpolesie.

By basic thermal and humidity indicators, the territory of Uzda Forestry Institution is close to the average level of the Republic of Belarus.

The forest resources of Uzdensky trial forestry enterprise is 47,0 thousand ha, including the forest area – 42,5 thousand ha. Group I forests make up 34,1 thousand ha, group II forests – 12,6 thousand ha.

At species-in forests dominated by pine – 54,7%. Birch stand up 17,8%, spruce – 16,0%. Total stock of plantations – 9925,9 thousand cubic meters. The average increase per 1 ha of wooded area – 4,1 cubic meters per year. The average stock per 1 ha of forest-covered area – 233 cubic meters. The average age of stands – 53 years.

The area of the Forestry Institution has a well-developed transport network.

The main activities of the company are: forestry, logging and wood processing, collateral use of forest resources, production of planting material, providing range of services to the public and outside organizations.

The forestry activities carried out:

- forest exploitation;

- reafforestation and forestation;

- prevention of forest fires, prevention of illegal cutting of timber and other illegal actions concerning forest;

- forests protection from forest diseases and pests;

- game reserve management.

At present  the forestry has 6 forest districts: Uzdenskoe, Valerjanovskoe, Nemanskoe, Teljakovskoe, Slobodskoe, Loshanskoe and hunting enterprise
